New Delhi: In view of the proposed Janta Curfew by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Indian Railways on Friday declared that all trains will remain cancelled between 4 am to 10 pm on Sunday, March 22
According to the railways, nearly 1,300 mail or express trains will remain cancelled on March 22. The details of the trains to be cancelled will be released on Saturday by 12 noon.
A circular addressed to all zonal railways stated, “Keeping in view the fact that the demand for rail travel will be vastly reduced during the janata curfew between 7 am and 9 pm on Sunday, zonal railways are hereby advised to regulate services. All passenger trains originating from midnight on March 21 till 10 pm on March 22 shall not run. However, passenger train already on the go at 7 am on that day will be allowed to reach their destinations.”
The Railway Board took this decision after a meeting with General Managers of zonal railways in order to check the spread of coronavirus.
Till date, around 223 people have been infected with the virus and four persons have lost their lives.
In the wake of the fast spreading virus, Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged people to go for ‘janata curfew’ from 7 am to 9 pm on Sunday.
