Balasore: Villagers on Monday detained a Jatra troupe vehicle at Jagannathpur village under Gopalpur police limits in Odisha’s Balasore district for allegedly not holding show after receiving advance payment.
According to Baripada Jagannathpur Jatra Committee members, Jatra Mayanagari was paid Rs 1 lakh advance last year for show in the village. Neither did they put up the show nor refunded the amount after Mayanagari merged with Gouri Gananatya Jatra troupe.
Three other Jatra committees of Bhadrak district had also paid advance money to the Jatra troupe
When the committee members got information about the vehicle of the troupe, they rushed to the spot and stopped it from proceeding forward. They also sought the help of Gopalpur police for refund of their advance money.
