Mumbai: AIMIM’s Asim Waqar lashed out at noted lyricist and writer Javed Akhtar on Sunday after he called for an end to ‘azaan’ on loudspeakers.
He said that Akhtar’s thoughts “are coming from the roots of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh”.
Without naming him, he asked people to openly use offensive words against him for speaking against the Muslims and added that this stance of his was a ploy to get the Rajya Sabha nomination.
In a tweet on Saturday, Akhtar wrote: “In India for almost 50 yrs Azaan on the loudspeaker was HARAAM Then it became HaLAAL n so halaal that there is no end to it but there should be an end to it Azaan is fine but loudspeaker does cause of discomfort for others I hope that at least this time they will do it themselves,” he tweeted.
