Sambalpur: A jawan of Odisha Special Armed Police (OSAP) was arrested for allegedly harassing a minor girl in Dhanupali area of Sambalpur district on Tuesday.
The accused jawan was identified as Suresh Bibhar (30), a resident of Gadaloisingh village in the district.
According to sources, Suresh was the tutor of the girl, a student of Class IX. He had developed a one-sided love for the girl and proposed to marry her. The girl, however, rejected his offer.
Angry over this, the accused started harassing the girl and threatened to kill her. Following this, the girl lodged a police complaint.
Police said further investigation was on.
