Bhubaneswar: Three days after claiming to expose the mastermind behind the murder of health minister Naba Kishore Das, Leader of Opposition (LoP) Jayanarayan Mishra on Tuesday dropped a bombshell by pointing accusing fingers at 5T Secretary V K Pandian and Jajpur MLA Pranab Prakash Das and demanded that they be probed.
Staging a demonstration on the Odisha Assembly premises on the first day of the Budget Session, which began on a stormy note, the LoP said that the killing was ‘government-sponsored’ and he suspected the involvement of the 5T Secretary and the MLA in the crime. “Four days before Naba Das’ murder, they had a telephonic conversation. The two should be brought under the purview of investigation and the call record should be examined,” said Mishra, who is known for making explosive statements without mincing words.
The LoP, who recently got involved in a tussle with a woman cop, further alleged the Odisha Police was incapable of investigating these aspects, and the case should, therefore, be handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
Private Secretary to the Chief Minister V K Pandian, and the Jajpur MLA, who is also the Organisational Secretary of the Biju Janata Dal (BJD), are perceived as powerful in the ruling dispensation.
Notably, Mishra had earlier alleged that several high-profile people are involved in the minister’s killing and it must be investigated by the CBI. “The ASI was merely the shooter, but who was his handler? I will soon expose the mystery surrounding the brutal murder,” he had said.
