Bhubaneswar: A junior engineer (JE) of power distribution company TPWODL was apprehended by Odisha Vigilance officials on Wednesday for allegedly taking Rs 30,000 bribe from a man to facilitate his appointment as an electrical helper on outsourcing basis.
The accused was identified as Ranjan Kumar Das, junior engineer in Bargaon electrical section of TPWODL in Sundargarh district. He was apprehended by Vigilance while demanding and accepting the bribe from the complainant, a Vigilance release said.
Das had also threatened the complainant that another person would be appointed in his place, if demanded bribe is not given.
The entire bribe amount Rs 30,000/- has been recovered from the accused and seized.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches are going on at three locations of Das from Disproportionate Assets angle.
In this connection, Rourkela Vigilance has registered a case and investigation is in progress against the accused JE.
