New Delhi: The Union Ministry of Education has decided to revamp the JEE Apex Board (JAB), which is responsible for admission to undergraduate engineering programmes in IITs, NITs and other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs).
According to a notification, the decision to reconstitute the board structure and administrative framework of JAB was taken for smoother conduct of JEE (Main) and JEE(Advanced) examinations for 2024 and 2025.
The notification released on October 18 is a partial modification to the one which was issued on October 4.
It says that the National Testing Agency (NTA) will manage all IT (software) related support and back-end activities for pre and post-examination work, including online submission of application forms and will seek support from National Informatics Centre (NIC) and Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) as and when required.
The JAB will be assisted by five members selected from NTA, IITs and a senior representative of Indian Statistical Institutes (ISI) nominated by the Apex board.
The NTA will provide administrative and logistic support for conduct of JEE (Main) exam all over India. The JEE Apex Board of the IIT system will continue to conduct JEE (Advanced).
JAB will be the final authority for setting up rules and regulations concerning JEE (Main) exam and will also coordinate with JEE (Advanced) organising institution.
