Bhubaneswar: Gold and silver ornaments worth lakhs of rupees were looted from a jewellery shop on the outskirts of the Odisha capital on Friday night.
According to reports, miscreants decamped with 20 grams of gold and two kilograms of silver ornaments from Subarna Jewellery and Workshop located at Chakeisiani Market under Mancheswar police limits.
Shop owner Brahma Sahoo who lodged an FIR with the police said, “The front grill of the shop was cut open by the burglars, who disabled the CCTV cameras and also took away the DVR (Digital Video Recorder) of the CCTV with them.”
He further added, “Miscreants fled with gold jewellery weighing approximately 20 grams and silver ornaments of two kilograms weight. The list of looted jewellery included necklaces, chains, ear rings, bangles and rings.”
Based on Sahoo’s complaint, Mancheswar police reviewed CCTV footage of nearby shops and initiated a probe into the burglary.
