Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday accorded district headquarters hospital (DHH) status to Jeypore sub-divisional hospital.
“The sub-division hospital at Jeypore is upgraded and given district headquarters hospital status,” said Naveen.
Earlier in the day, a busload of Jeypore residents led by former MLA and senior BJD leader Rabi Narayan Nanda met him at his residence to press for this demand.
On the other hand, Jeypore MLA and Congress Chief Whip Tara Prasad Bahinipati with hundreds of party workers gheraoed the Sub Collector’s office at Jeypore this morning and sat on a dharna demanding up-gradation of the sub- divisional Hospital.
Following the announcement, Bahinipati accused Rabi Narayan Nanda of conspiring and taking credit while bulk of the ground work, including the demand for upgrading the sub-divisional hospital, was made by him.
