Bhubaneswar: The state government has set a target to make Jharsuguda airstrip operational for regional connectivity services by November-end, chief secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi informed.
After a state-level coordination and monitoring committee on Tuesday, the chief secretary said, “The airport will be ready for operations by November under the UDAN scheme. But, we are waiting for the private operators as they are not ready yet. We are sorting out issues with RSP. Initially, we were hoping that they will manage the airport. As of now, they are saying no. If they decline, we will manage the security and fire services.”
Besides, the Rourkela airport will be ready in the next two-three months and Jeypore and Utkela airports will be operational by March 2018, he added.
