Jharsuguda: Vigilance officials on Tuesday arrested the District Medical Officer (CDMO)-cum-Superintendent of DHH in Jharsugada district while he was accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000. The accused has been identified as Dr Usha Rani Dash.
According to sources, Dash had demanded a bribe of Rs 5,000 from Devananda Barik, an electrical contractor in return for passing his bill regarding an administrative work. Barik lodged a complaint at the police station, based on which, the Vigilance Department laid a trap. Dash was caught red-handed by the vigilance officials.
Dash was allegedly taking the bribe from the complainant to pass a bill of Rs 70,000 incurred on the repair of an air conditioner and cooler and other electrical works in the Jharsuguda DHH. This bill was pending since May this year.
“A trap was laid today at about 12.45 am. The accused, Dr Usha Rani Dash was caught red-handed inside her office chamber,” said Sambalpur Additional SP, Vigilance, Ravindra Pradhan.
