Jharsuguda MLA Naba Das Quits Congress, All Eyes On Jan 24

Bhubaneswar: Putting all speculation to rest, Jharsuguda MLA Naba Kishore Das resigned from the primary membership of the Congress and the post of working president of Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) on Wednesday.

He is likely to join the ruling BJD during the Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s visit to Jharsuguda on January 24.

In his resignation letter submitted to AICC president Rahul Gandhi, Das attributed his decision to the will of the people of his constituency. “The people and voters of my area want that I should contest the next 2019 election from BJD as they want our area should develop and I should join hands with Naveen Patnaik,” he wrote.

The Jharsuguda MLA said that he would place the suggestions of his people before the Odisha CM during his scheduled visit to Jharsuguda on January 24.

“I apologise for this resignation, as done so for the motto i.e development first,” he said, adding that he had no problem with OPCC president Niranjan Patnaik and shared a cordial relation with him.
