Bhadrak: A man and his daughter were seriously injured in a murderous attack by a spurned lover at Kenduapada Dalimba Gadia Square under Bhadrak rural police limits on Saturday night.
The father-daughter duo is currently undergoing treatment at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.
According to sources, Rabindra Sahu and his daughter had gone to Cuttack for a medical check-up on Saturday. They then boarded a train and alighted at Kenduapada railway station, before embarking to their village, Dalapati, on a scooter at around 10 pm.
The youth, who was lying in wait, allegedly attacked them with a sharp weapon near Kenduapada Dalimba Gadia Square.
They were rescued by locals and rushed them to Bhadrak district headquarters hospital and later shifted to SCB as their condition deteriorated.
The accused youth has been identified by Rabindra as Raja of the same village. “Raja wanted to marry my daughter, but my daughter and family declined his proposal. It was a vindictive attack,” the girl’s father said.
Bonth police have started investigating the case and a manhunt has been launched to nab the absconding accused.
