WhatsApp, the most popular and widely used messaging app in India, is bringing its status feature to the budget Jio Phone. Unlike Android and iOS devices, the status feature was not available on the Jio Phone.
It will work similarly to the way people use the ‘Status’ feature on smartphones, Joe Grinstead, WhatApp software engineering lead for KaiOS said in an interview with Android Central.
The KaOS-based feature phone had limited features on WhatsApp when it started supporting it in 2018, added Joe. It has received updates such as support for Facebook, YouTube, and Google Maps since then.
He, however, explained that WhatsApp voice calling feature will be difficult to integrate in this platform.
