Mumbai: Jio 5G service will be rolled out in India next year, Reliance Industries Chairman and Managing Director Mukesh Ambani revealed on Tuesday.
“I assure you that Jio will pioneer the 5G revolution in India in the second half of 2021. It will be powered by indigenous-developed network, hardware and technology components,” Ambani said during his keynote speech at India Mobile Congress 2020.
The 63-year-old billionaire noted that the 5G service offered by Jio would be a “testimony” to the government’s ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ (self-reliant India) policy, according to a report by Gadgets 360.
Apart from rolling out 5G in the country, Jio is in development of an affordable Android phone in collaboration with Google that is likely to debut in the coming months.
