Mumbai: Reliance Jio has started registration for its FTTH (Fiber-to-the-home) high-speed internet service that will cover 1,100 cities across the country.
TV?
The Jio GigaFiber broadband service will offer speed up to 1Gbps and also compete with the DTH industry with a set-top box ‘GigaTV’, which supports VoIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol), IPTV (Internet Protocol TV) and Smart Home services. The GigaTV will have JioTV, JioCinema, JioTVCall, JioSmartLiving, JioCloud, MediaShare, JioStore, and JioNewVelocity apps and services.
The company claims that the speed is enough to stream 4K content flawlessly.
How To Register?
Like all other Jio services, users can register on jio.com or MyJio app. Sources say the company is going for registration to assess the demand, and will roll out services accordingly.
Apart from DTH players, Jio is going to compete with established Internet Service Providers (ISPs) such as Bharti Airtel, ACT, Hathway, Ortel, Wefe, BSNL and MTNL.
