Bhubaneswar: Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory Manoj Sinha, who is on a tour to Odisha, visited the World Skill Centre (WSC) in Bhubaneswar on Friday.
The Lt Governor was welcomed with Guard of Honour on his arrival at the WSC. He explored various advanced laboratories and interacted with students about the different skill courses offered at the WSC.
“There is a requirement for talented youth in development of the country and the state. I am happy to see the World Skill Centre playing a major role in this regard. Here, the youths of Odisha have been given a platform to take their skills to new heights by getting industry ready training,” said Sinha.
He thanked the Odisha government and ITEES, Singapore for such a massive infrastructure. He was all praise for the courses offered under the School of Engineering and School of Services at WSC.
Sinha also visited different departments of School of Engineering (SoE) at the WSC. A new course on Vertical Transportation has been introduced under SoE from 2023-24. He was happy to see various ultramodern equipment provisioned there for the skill development of youth.
To develop the overall skilling ecosystem in the state, Trainers from Government ITIs and polytechnic colleges in the state undergo training under different programmes which are conducted routinely at the World Skill Centre. The Lt Governor appreciated this initiative.

Prashant Jankar; OSD to Lt Governor, Saurabh Bhagat; secretary, Skill Development Department, Government of J&K, Pankaj Chandra; vice-chancellor and Chairman, Board of Management, Ahmedabad University accompanied Sinha.
At a special programme held in WSC, Chief Advisor to Odisha government on Institutional Capacity Building Subroto Bagchi; Chairperson, Odisha Skill Development Authority & CEO WSC Alka Misra; Principal Secretary, Skill Development & Technical Education Department, Usha Padhee; Director, Technical Education & Training Reghu G; Additional Secretary & COO WSC Pinaki Patnaik; Principal of WSC Sangaran Gopal and Deputy Principal Subhanga Kishore Das were present.
