Bhubaneswar: The commissionerate police on Friday arrested Manas Ranjan Nayak, a job consultant, in the ITER fake placement row case.
A resident of Balia Village under Salepur police limits in Cuttack district, he was nabbed from Puri for his alleged involvement in the recruitment drive conducted on the campus by different fraud companies. He had mediated between ITER and the fake placement consultancy, police said.
“Nayak’s name came up during the interrogation of ITER dean (placement) Rajkishore Hota, who was earlier arrested on May 26 based on a complaint lodged by the students of the institute,” said commissioner of police YB Khurania.
Over 50 students, accompanied by their guardians, has staged a massive demonstration in front of SOA University’s ITER campus and later resorted to hunger strike over alleged bogus offer letters from some companies in Gurgaon.
