Paradip: A joint security exercise, ‘Sagar Kavach-2’, was carried out off Paradip coast in Odisha’s Jagatsinghpur district on Thursday.
The exercise involving 18 security agencies and related departments of the state and the Centre was conducted along Paradip coast and inside the port town.
The entire group of personnel from different agencies were divided into red and blue teams. While the red team tried to infiltrate, the blue team countered their efforts and neutralise the infiltration.
The exercise was carried out at the fishing jetty, Mahanadi mouth, slums near the port, port gate, administrative building, radar station, light house, film hall, bus stand and factory gates.
The personnel of Indian Navy, Coast Guard, Marine Police, Forest Department, Fishery Department, Odisha Police, Central Industrial Security Force and Intelligence Department participated in the exercise.
The exercise will be conducted along 482-km coast of Odisha and West Bengal for two days. It has been carried out every six months since the 26/11 Mumbai terrorist attack. The coastal security has been beefed up since then as the terrorists from Pakistan had infiltrated Indian coast on sea route.
