JP Nadda Replaces Piyush Goyal As Leader Of House In Rajya Sabha

New Delhi: BJP’s national president and recently-appointed Union Health Minister JP Nadda was on Monday appointed as Leader of the House in Rajya Sabha.

Nadda, who is also the Chemicals & Fertilisers Minister, will replace Piyush Goyal as the Leader of Rajya Sabha.

Union minister Goyal, who recently won the Lok Sabha election from Mumbai North seat, on Monday took oath as a member of the Lower House.

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge is Leader of the Opposition in Rajya Sabha.

After taking oath as Union minister two weeks ago, Nadda was expected to step down from the post of the party’s national president, which he took over from Union Home minister Amit Shah in 2020.

But it seems the 63-year-old Nadda will continue as national president, at least for the time being.

Nadda was one of 41 elected unopposed to the Rajya Sabha in February.
