Hyderabad: Rumours about Jr NTR entering politics have been doing the rounds on social media following reports saying he will make a major announcement at an upcoming event in Tirupati.
With speculation linking him to the political legacy of his grandfather, legendary actor and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N.T. Rama Rao, the actor’s team has now issued a clarification, putting rumours to rest.
In a statement issued by his office on Tuesday, Jr NTR informed that the upcoming event, ‘Ooru Vaada’, organised by a group called RAW NTR, has no connection with any announcement on politics.
The statement was released to clear the confusion surrounding the fan-organised programme.
“It has come to our attention that an organisation operating under the name RAW NTR is carrying out activities that may create an impression of being associated with Mr NTR,” read the statement, which goes on to state that neither the ‘Dragon’ actor nor his office has any association, affiliation, or involvement with RAW NTR or its activities.
The statement made it clear that the organisation has not been authorised to represent Jr NTR or make any announcement on his behalf.
“Any charitable initiative, public welfare activity, official communication, or association involving Mr NTR will be communicated only through Mr NTR or his official team,” the statement read.
“This shall be our final communication on this subject. We sincerely hope this clarification puts an end to all ongoing rumours and speculation,” the note said, urging the media and fans not to believe or spread unverified information and rumours.

RAW NTR has announced a campaign called Ooru Vaada.
The group has also planned a press conference at Taj, Tirupati, on July 18 at 10 am, where it says it will unveil the campaign’s vision and agenda, followed by a question-and-answer session with the media.
The organisation released a statement that read, “We’ve noticed several posts linking July 18th to NTR garu’s political announcement. As per our knowledge, we’d like to clarify that these are only rumours, and there has been no official announcement regarding the same.”
It further clarified, “Our #Ooru Vaada event on July 18th was planned well in advance and is solely dedicated to unveiling the core idea and vision of #OoruVaada. It has absolutely no connection with the ongoing political speculations.”

Jr NTR comes from one of Andhra Pradesh’s most influential political families. He is the grandson of legendary actor, Telugu Desam Party (TDP) founder and former chief minister N.T. Rama Rao, and son of Nandamuri Harikrishna, nephew of Nandamuri Balakrishna, both of whom had careers in cinema and politics.
His uncle, N. Chandrababu Naidu is the current chief minister of Andhra Pradesh, while his cousin, Nara Lokesh, is a senior TDP leader.
Although Jr NTR campaigned for the TDP during the 2009 elections, he has never expressed any intention of joining active politics or contesting elections.
On work front, the actor was last seen in Koratala Siva’s ‘Devara: Part 1’ and Ayan Mukerji’s ‘War 2’.
He is currently shooting for Prashanth Neel’s ‘Dragon’.
