New Delhi: Jindal Stainless Limited (JSL) has ramped up its export volumes by increasing production for global markets.
The strategic initiative by India’s largest stainless steel manufacturer is yielding encouraging results at a time when India has not lifted the coronavirus-induced lockdown completely.
According to a press release, JSL despatched export orders of over 12,000 tonnes in May, which amounts to more than 40% of its entire despatches. Under normal circumstances, the despatches are around 18-20% in a month.
In June, JSL is scheduled to despatch over 18,000 tonnes, which will take export volume back to pre-COVID-19 period.
“We’ve adjusted our sails to weather the storm. We’re aggressively chasing export markets in the EU and Russia, which constitute the bulk of our export volumes. Besides, we are also looking afresh at other markets like Korea and South America to maximise exports. We are optimising operations at our plants to align with the market conditions and we’ll be swift to respond to domestic demand upon revival,” Managing Director, JSL, Abhyuday Jindal said.
JSL’s manufacturing facility reopened in the first week of May and the company has steadily ramped up its operations and production. It will be increased further in June with further easing of lockdown.
