Joda/Barbil: Sweta Rani Mahanta, an outstanding sports talent from Odisha’s Joda-Barbil region, was felicitated by Jindal Steel & Power (JSP) for her golden performance in Russia.
JSP Pellet Plant Unit head Purushotham MD felicitated Swati at the plant auditorium on Friday for winning her recent triumph at the Moscow Wushu Stars 2023 International tournament.
Swati has been trained and nurtured by JSP Foundation, the social arm of Jindal Steel & Power.
The unit head interacted with Swati and other wushu players, as well as coach Pankaj Kumar Mahanta, and noted their feedback regarding training facilities, food and nutrition, sports infrastructure, etc. provided by the foundation.
“I congratulate Ms Mahanta for this great performance at an international platform. Such achievements encourage us to think and work harder towards betterment of sports infrastructure for young talents of this region,” Purushotham said.
JSP Foundation has been encouraging youths of Keonjhar district to take up wushu and kickboxing, and thereafter supporting and promoting them so that they can excel at the national and international levels.
The Foundation, in association with Odisha State Wushu Association, has been patronising the Keonjhar district wushu Team for the last 12 years.
