Bhubaneswar: In its commitment to create a more inclusive India, JSP Foundation, the social arm of Jindal Steel & Power, opened ‘Jindal Gyan’, an advanced assistive devices library here on Thursday.
The library, which will cater to the needs of the visually impaired, was inaugurated by Principal Secretary of Odisha government’s SSEPD Department Bishnupada Sethy. Among others present were President and Group Head (CSR) Prashant Hota, Head of Department of Prosthetics & Orthotics of SVNIRTAR (Cuttack) Srikant Maharana, Odisha Association of the Blind President Sanyasi Behera and We4You Secretary Abhaya Mohanta.
The library, located at Khandagiribari, will be managed by We4You Charitable Trust.
The first-of-its-kind initiative in Bhubaneswar aims to empower visually impaired Divyangs by facilitating their access to state-of-the-art assistive devices, leveraging advanced technologies.
“When we plan to give good devices to visually impaired persons, we have to search for them. This library offers highly advanced devices that can assist in choosing the most suitable option. I am confident that this library will greatly improve the lives of individuals with visual impairments, making their daily tasks more manageable and enjoyable,” said Bishnupada Sethi.
“Inspired by the vision of Shallu Jindal ji, Chairperson, JSP Foundation, we always envision building an inclusive India. This library is one of our small efforts in this direction. We are optimistic that this library will serve as a model for making a positive impact on the lives of visually impaired individuals in Bhubaneswar,” said Prashant Hota.
‘Jindal Gyan’ will promote inclusion and independence among visually impaired community with advanced technology.
The library offers over 100 advanced assistive devices, including speech recognition devices, mobility aids and communication devices sourced from different parts of India and abroad.
Those who are visually impaired can use the latest devices to enhance their quality of life, encompassing daily needs, education and health.
