JSPL Ramps Up COVID Safety Measures On Plant Premises

Angul: Amidst the surge in second wave of COVID-19 in Odisha,  Jindal Steel and Power Limited (JSPL) has ramped up its testing and several measures on the steel plant complex for the safety of its employees.

Employees entering the premises are screened at entry through thermal check and face masks as well as social distancing at work are ensured.

Visits have been restricted and in emergency cases only those with a negative report or double dose vaccination certificate are allowed, informed Ravi Shankar, Head-HR & ES of Angul unit of JSPL.

He further stated that “JSPL is its best to control the spread of coronavirus and has taken several advanced measures like adding life support ambulances to save precious lives of its stakeholders. We have signed MoUs with various private reputed hospitals of the state such as Aswini, Aditya Aswini Hospital, SUM, SUM Ultimate Medicare & Care Hospital etc for providing best health care facilities to the employees in case a need arises during this pandemic”.

Moreover, the non-technical workforce have been asked to work from home while the technical departments advised to work with minimum staff.

Physical meetings, gathering and functions inside JSPL’s plant premises and township have been restricted and the employees residing outside the township are undergoing periodical RT PCR tests, he added.

The staff buses are operating with 50 per cent capacity and are sanitised everyday.

The HR department has made it mandatory for employees to isolate themselves in case of any symptoms of COVID.

The company has also undertaken a massive vaccination drive of its eligible employees, their family members, contractors workforce and other stakeholders.

JSPL has set up a 56-bed COVID care centre with a dedicated medical team to take care of patients, in case of emergencies. The company has also set up its own testing laboratory in its premises for Rapid Antigen and RT-PCR testing of employees, vendors and visitors.

Awareness campaign in periphery villages

The villagers are being sensitised about the second wave of coronavirus and its symptoms as well as care through various hoardings, e-messaging, e-learning, etc.

During the first wave in 2020, JSPL distributed more than two lakh hot cooked meals and dry ration to vulnerable people in Angul district under its Mission Zero Hunger Programme.

The company has also provided over 2,00,000 facemasks and 30,000 litres of sanitizers to the community and workforce.
