Tensa: The TRB. Iron Ore Mines of Jindal Steel & Power Ltd. (JSPL) at Tensa in Sundergarh district of Odisha has won first prize for cleanliness in Iron Ore Group-A2 category during the valedictory function of ‘Swachhata Pakhwada’ (Cleanliness Fortnight) observed under the aegis of Directorate General of Mines Safety, Chaibasa Region.
Pramod Kumar Patra, Vice President and Unit Head of the mines, and other officials of the company received the award on behalf of the company in a ceremony held at Barbil recently.
A total number of 69 Iron Ore, Manganese, Limestone and Dolomite mines belonging to different groups of the region had participated in the drive, which was observed from May 1 to 15.
Receiving the award, Patra said, “Cleanliness helps improve productivity, making the company responsive and attentive to the people at large. At JSPL, clean work environment is a culture and way of life which has helped in improving our operational efficiency. I appreciate contribution of all the employees in keeping the atmosphere clean throughout the year”.
Ashish Kumar, Executive Director and Group Head (Mining & Minerals) of JSPL congratulated the TRB Iron Ore mines team for the award. At JSPL, cleanliness and safety are two major criteria in the systematic functional efficiency of the business units, he said.
A fortnight-long awareness programme was also organised to sensitise the locals about cleanliness and adopt it for good health. More than 600 employees and workers of T.R.B. mines had participated in the ‘Swachhata Pakhwada’.
