Bhubaneswar: The JSW will use latest technology as per the recommendation of Environment Ministry for in its steel plant at Paradip in Jagatsinghpur district.
All environmental mitigation measures as per the recommendations of the expert appraisal committee (EAC) of the Ministry like zero liquid discharge (ZLD) would be deployed in the plant, the company stated in a release on Sunday.
The committee has deliberated on the public hearing issues and the subsequent action plan at length. There were 14 representations and JSW has responded to every concern. The EAC has found the responses to be satisfactory, the company claimed.
In order to protect aquatic life and ecosystem at the plat site, the company would depute a competent agency to carry out hydrological study at the site. “Sustainability is JSW’s core value and to ensure a better quality of life for the locals, we are currently in discussion with credible agencies for initiating Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs). The company aims at offering alternative livelihood solutions – both on farm and off farm for different target groups,” the JSW stated.
Meanwhile, the fencing work of the project, executed by IDCO, has been progressing and 800 m of boundary wall has been completed so far. The fencing has not caused any disturbance to the existing sand dunes in the project site, the company said.
