Bhubaneswar: Marking the 142nd birth anniversary of the first Home Minister of India Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Union Minister for Tribal Affairs Jual Oram flagged off the ‘Run for Unity’ at Patia Square here on Tuesday.
People from different walks of life including students, sportspersons and intellectuals took part in the run, which culminated at Janata Maidan here.
Paying rich tributes to Sardar Patel, Jual recalled the immense contribution of the great leader towards India’s unity.
On the other hand, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) also organised a similar marathon with the participation of students from Kendriya Vidyalaya and security personnel.
At the marathon led by CRPF IG KK Sharma, the participants took a pledge on unity, nationality and security.
“Remembering Iron Man of India Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on birth anniversary. Nation will remain indebted to the architect of unified India”, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik tweeted.
