Bhubaneswar: Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram has urged Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida, who is also the Tourism Minister of Odisha, to revamp eight tourist spots in his Sundargarh constituency.

These include Baba Baneswar Mahadev Temple in Bonai block, Singaradei in Lahunipara block, Ashok Jharan in Talabahali, Mirgi Lotani waterfall, about 20 km Bonai, Baba Bireswar Temple at Birtola, Deodhara on the banks of Brahmani river about 70 km from Rourkela city, Kata ((water reservoir) in Kaleiposa panchayat and Badalgiri waterfall in Gurundia.

Oram stressed that developing these scenic areas would boost local economy and create job opportunities for people of the region.

The Sundargarh MP said that the district has failed to attract tourists despite having having numerous attractions because of years of neglect by the Tourism department. He mentioned about over 13 tourist spots in Sundargarh of which only 3-4 have been developed in the recent years.

Oram said that the change in government in the state has given him hope for a renewed focus on developing the district’s tourism infrastructure.
