Bhubaneswar: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has formed two committees for efficient management and effective campaign for the by-election to Odisha’s Jharsuguda Assembly constituency to be held on May 10.
BJP youth leader and state secretary Tankadhar Tripathy is slated to file his nomination papers as party candidate tomorrow.
With BJP gearing up for the bypoll, party’s state president Manmohan Samal has announced the two committees for the proper management and campaign of the elections.
The 8-member Election Management Committee, headed by Sundargarh MP and former Union Minister Jual Oram, has Leader of Opposition (LoP Jayanarayan Mishra, former state president K V Singhdeo, MPs Suresh Pujari & Basant Panda, former state president Samir Mohanty, state general secretaries Ravi Narayan Naik and Golak Prasad Mahapatra as members.
Similarly, the 14-member election campaign committee is chaired by Bargarh MP and former state president Suresh Pujari. Its members are MP and former Union Minister Pratap Sharangi, MP and state vice-president Sangeeta Singhdeo, Nitesh Gangadev, opposition chief whip Mohan Majhi, MLA Shankar Oram, Nauri Naik, Subash Panigarahi, former MLA and Farmers Morcha state president Pradeep Purohit, MLA Nityanand Gond, Bhabani Shankar Bhoi, Kusum Tete, Mukesh Mahaling and senior leader Ranjan Kumar Patel.
The by-election in Jharsuguda is being held following the murder of minister Naba Kishore Das allegedly by a policeman on January 29.
