Jumbo Calf Falls Into Abandoned Well In Dhenkanal

Dhenkanal: An elephant calf fell into an open and abandoned well in Mahulapunji forest in Dhenkanal district in the early hours on Tuesday.

It is suspected that the calf is six to seven years. Forest department officials are on a massive operation to rescue the elephant calf.

In another incident, a female elephant calf fell into an open well at Jamujhara village under Kamakhyanagar western range in Baruan Panchayat in the district today.

Locals spotted the elephant calf in the well and informed the forest department. The officials are trying to rescue the calf.
