Angul: An elderly woman was crushed to death in an elephant attack at a village under Athamallick forest range in Angul on Wednesday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Subasini Nayak (60).
According to sources, the incident took place when Subasini had gone to a nearby forest to attend nature’s call. A wild elephant attacked and trampled her to death.
Following the incident, locals staged a demonstration and demanded compensation for the bereaved family.
Meanwhile, a herd of elephants has been wreaking havoc at Gadgadbahala village in Tureikela under Kantabanji forest range in Balangir district.
