Junior Assistant Arrested By Odisha Vigilance For Misappropriating Rs 37.32 Lakh


Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance on Saturday arrested a former Junior Assistant in the office of the Block Education Officer (BEO) at Baliapal in Baleshwar district for allegedly misappropriating over Rs 37.32 lakh.

The accused, identified as Debadyuti Nanda, is now a Junior Assistant in the government High School at Jagai in Baliapal.

He has been arrested by for alleged misappropriation of government money to the tune of Rs 37,32,708/- by way of preparing forged arrear pay bills of self during 2022 to 2026.

Vigilance claimed that he fraudulently inserted his forged arrear pay bills in the arrear DA bills of other employees under BEO by taking advantage of his official position as the bill clerk-cum-accountant of the office.

After being arrested, he will be forwarded to the court soon.

A case has been registered against Nanda and investigation in the case is underway.
