Earlier in the day, nurses in Kolkata conducted a rally, demanding justice for the victim.
Kolkata Police had registered a murder case. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) was formed to probe the death of the 31-year-old amid an outcry in Bengal. Medical students and the opposition BJP members and supporters had taken to the streets on Friday to demand justice for the deceased.

‘Marks on cheeks, around nose, lips…my daughter was raped’
“Her body was found in the seminar hall of the Emergency building by fellow students, who then informed us. We are talking to doctors, nurses, and others who were on duty with her last night,” a senior police officer told PTI.
The body bore scratch marks on the cheeks, around her nose, lips, in between eyebrows, and on the neck, according to a report on the Hindustan Times. The father of the deceased student, according to media reports, alleged that his daughter was sexually assaulted.
