Bhubaneswar: Vigilance officials apprehended a junior engineer in Odisha’s Khurda district and a senior clerk in Koraput district while allegedly receiving bribes of Rs 50,000 and Rs 5,000 respectively on Tuesday.
The junior engineer has been identified as Ramakanta Behera and the senior clerk as Satyanarayan Dolei.
According to sources, the Vigilance sleuths laid a trap and caught Behera red-handed while he was allegedly accepting the bribe money from a contractor for facilitating the release of his pending bill for road work executed by him. Behera was an employee at Bhubaneswar block.
Likewise, Dolei was caught while allegedly accepting the bribe money from a complainant to hand over the converted RoR (Patta from agriculture land to gharabari land).
Cases have been registered against both of them under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018.
