Bhubaneswar: Odisha had a silver lining twice over in the 43rd Junior National Kho-Kho Championship at UP’s Aligarh.
The men’s and women’s teams of Odisha bagged silver medals after bowing to heavyweights Maharashtra in both finals at Maharani Ahilyabai Holkar Sports Stadium on Friday.
In the boys’ final, Maharashtra overcame a fighting Odisha 33-29 after leading 18-14 at half-time, reported PTI.
The girls’ summit clash saw Maharashtra convert a 14-10 advantage at the halfway stage into a 24-20 victory.
It was the 19th consecutive title for Maharashtra boys and 35th overall in the competition. The Maharashtra girls lifted their 10th successive title and 26th overall.
Odisha’s Lisa Rani was adjudged the best attacker along with Prem Dalvi (Maharashtra). The best defender awards went to Odisha’s Bapi Murmu and Maharashtra’s Tanvi Bhosale.
