Bhubaneswar: Odisha bagged a total of 12 medals in the 23rd Junior National Wushu Championship, which was held at KPR College of Science & Technology in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu from July 26 to 31.
The 12 medals featured two gold, one silver and nine bronze.
Odisha Wushu Association (OWA) fielded a 35-member State squad, including 24 boys and 11 girls, in the six-day championship. The squad was accompanied by two coaches (Pankaj Mahanta and Sujan Rath) and five judges (Head judge Pradyumna Behera and National judges Anuradha Dora, Tika Bahadur, Susanta Naik).
OWA chairman S S Harichandan, president Bishnu Mohan Mohanty and general secretary Yuvraj Harichandan appreciated the achievement of the Odisha squad and congratulated the medal winners. According to OWA general secretary, the State squad was fully sponsored by the Department of Sports & Youth Services, Government of Odisha.

GOLD: 1. Sujain Islam, boys traditional taolu (Khurda), 2. Prem Munda, boys 48kg Sanda (Keonjhar).
SILVER: 1. Sujain Islam, boys taolu soft-style weapon (Khurda).
BRONZE: 1. Sabita Munda, girls 52kg sanda (Keonjhar), 2. Ramesh Munda, boys 48kg sanda (Keonjhar), 3. Madan Munda, boys 45kg sanda (Keonjhar), 4. Anwesha Pallai, girls taolu taijiquan (Khurda), 5. Dibyakanti Oram, girls taolu changquan (Sambalpur), 6. Samridhi, Girls taolu qianshu (Sundargarh), 7. Asish Dirdeo Samanta, boys taolu other style (Khurda), 8. Rahul Ghadai, boys taolu nanquan (Khurda), 9. Asish Dirdeo Samanta, boys taolu double weapon (Khurda).
