Cuttack: Junior Revenue Assistant at the Collectorate in Odisha’s Angul Pankajini Biswal was on Saturday dismissed from government service following her conviction in a bribery case, informed authorities.
She was dismissed from service as per provision of Odisha Civil Services (Classification, Control & Appeal) Rules, 1962.
According to Vigilance Directorate, Biswal’s dismissal was following her conviction by Special Judge Vigilance Angul on May 12, 2023.
A chargesheet was filed against Biswal in Vigilance police station Cuttack (case No. 8) on February 6, 2017 under Sections 13(2)r/w 13(1)(d)/7 of Prevention of Corruption (PC) Act, 1988 for demanding and accepting bribe from a complainant in order to process file in respect of two mutation cases filed by his parents for issuance of RoR (Patta).
The Special Judge had sentenced Biwal to rigorous imprisonment for a period of three years and imposed a fine of Rs 5,000. In default of payment of fine, the court ordered further rigorous imprisonment for a period of two months for the offence under Sections 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d) of the PC Act, 1988.
