Puri: Former Supreme Court Judge Justice Arijit Pasayat is set to chair the first meeting of the high-level committee formed by the Odisha government to supervise the inventory of valuables stored in Ratna Bhandar (treasury) of Puri Jagannath Temple on Saturday.
Justice Pasayat, who heads the high-level committee formed by the state government last month, is on a four-day visit to Odisha.
After visiting the Jagannath Temple and offering prayers before the sibling deities, he will hold the important meeting of the high-level panel in the afternoon.
The panel was formed after the Orissa High Court in September last year directed the state government to constitute a high-level committee for the supervision of the preparation of the inventory of the Ratna Bhandar.
As per direction by the High Court, the State government in February this year announced the formation of a 12-member committee, headed by Justice Pasayat, for the proposed inventory of the Ratna Bhandar, which remains closed for decades.
It may be noted here that the inventory of the Ratna Bhandar was last made in 1978.
