Bhubaneswar: Retired judge of Orissa High Court Justice Bijaya Kumar Nayak assumed as the chairperson of the Odisha State Law Commission on Thursday.
Additional secretary of law department Jeeban Ballav Mishra shall be the secretary to the Law Commission, official sources said.
In March, 2016, the Odisha government had issued a gazette notification regarding formation of the commission to be headed by either a judge of the Supreme Court or the High Court.
The commission was constituted with a view to improve and revise the existing laws and enact the new ones in consonance with the present scenario.
