Bhubaneswar: Justice Bijoy Krishna Patel on Tuesday took charge as Chairperson of Odisha Human Rights Commission (OHRC).
A former High Court judge, Justice Patel was appointed OHRC Chairperson on November 27, after Governor Ganeshi Lal accorded approval to the recommendation made by a committee headed by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. He will replace Justice BP Das, who had retired on November 14.
Justice Patel had served as Orissa High Court (HC) Judge from 2008 to 2015. Earlier, he served as Principal Secretary to Government of Odisha, Law Department.
