Nayagarh: Senior BJP leader and Odisha in-charge D Purandeswari on Thursday said that the party will continue its fight to ensure justice for the parents of Pari, a five-year-old girl of Jadupur village in Odisha’s Nayagarh district, who was murdered in July this year.
Briefing mediapersons after meeting Pari’s parents during her visit to the village today, she said the minor girl was not only murdered but some of her vital organs were also found missing which is a clear case of organ trade.
Coming down heavily on the gross inaction by the police in arresting the prime accused even after five months of the child’s death, Purandeswari said that the local BJD MLA and minister Arun Sahoo, who is allegedly shielding the accused, should resign from his post immediately. As the minister is yet to resign from his post, the Chief Minister should ask him to step down.
Referring to the court-monitored Crime Branch SIT probe into the incident announced by the Chief Minister, the BJP leader said this is an eyewash. “When the SIT and the SIT chief have no judicial powers, how will they investigate the case? Taking this into consideration, we demand a CBI probe into the case,” the senior BJP leader pointed out.
She was accompanied by BJP’s State president Samir Mohanty, and several party leaders including Lekhashri Samantsinghar, Surama Padhi and Prabhati Parida.
