Bhubaneswar: The Justice MM Das Commission, probing into the
multi-crore chit fund scam in Odisha, submitted its fourth interim
report to the state government on Thursday.
The report revealed that as many as 55,563 small depositors have been
identified following examination of 1,38,388 affidavits from
investors of 342 companies.
Of the total number of small depositors, a total of 10,037 persons
have deposited in Flourish India, 6,497 in Seashore Group, 3,798 in
Sarada and 2,310 in Artha Tatwa.
In its third interim report presented before the government earlier in
July last year, the commission had identified 41,519 small investors
out of over 9 lakh affidavits filed by depositors.
The Commission had asked the chit fund firms to return back the small
investors’ money.
The second interim report consisting of 600 pages was submitted by the
commission on February 3 last year. Similarly, in the first phase, the
commission had submitted a 500-page report earlier on May 25, 2016.
