Justice Sangam Sahoo Of Odisha Set For Elevation As Chief Justice Of Patna HC



Bhubaneswar: The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended the elevation of Justice Sangam Kumar Sahoo, a sitting judge of the Orissa High Court, as Chief Justice of the Patna High Court.

The recommendation, made during the Collegium’s meeting on December 18 and headed by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant, is part of a broader set of proposals for appointing Chief Justices to five high courts.

Justice Sahoo enrolled as an advocate with the Orissa State Bar Council in Cuttack on November 26, 1989, beginning his practice under the mentorship of his la

te father, Sarat Chandra Sahoo, a prominent criminal law expert, and Dr Manoranjan Panda, a specialist in service and constitutional matters.

Throughout his career as a lawyer, Justice Sahoo focused primarily on criminal law and service matters, appearing extensively in district courts, the Orissa High Court, consumer forums, the Securities Appellate Tribunal, and the Central Administrative Tribunal across Odisha.

He was elevated to the bench of the Orissa High Court on July 2, 2014. As one of its senior judges, he currently holds the position of Executive Chairman of the Odisha State Legal Services Authority, overseeing initiatives for legal aid and access to justice.
