New Delhi: Rising talent Kabir Hans added another first to his CV as an Odisha tennis player won a maiden title at the prestigious Fenesta National Championships.
The 21-year-old Hans teamed up with Tamil Nadu boy Jaya Prakash to lift the men’s doubles crown. The third-seeded pair of Hans and Jaya Prakash fought back from a one-set deficit to outlast fourth seeds Ishaque Eqbal and Faisal Qamar 3-6, 6-3, 10-8 in the final on Sunday.
Hans and Jaya Prakash had ousted Tamil Nadu duo Ranjit Murugesan and Manish Suresh Kumar 6-4, 6-7 (3-7), 10-5 in the semifinal.
In 2018, Hans became the first player from the state to reach the final of a junior (U-18) ITF tournament, in Dehradun. He then won back-to-back doubles titles in the National Juniors and YMCA ITF U-18 meets in Chennai.
