Bhubaneswar: The Mahajara of Kalahandi and former MLA of Junagarh Udit Pratap Deo passed away at a private hospital here on Monday.
He was 71 and is survived by his wife Padma Manjari Devi, one son and a daughter.
Deo was suffering from prolonged illness and was admitted to the private hospital four days ago. He passed away at 5.45 pm, family sources said.
Born on August 21, 1948, Deo was educated at Rajkumar College, Raipur and at Delhi University. He was elected to the Odisha Assembly on a Swatantra Party ticket from Junagarh seat in 1974.
Deo and his wife had joined the BJP in 2014.
