Bhubaneswar: Jeering at the recently launched KALIA scheme of the Odisha government for the welfare of the farmers, the Congress on Thursday termed it as a life-saving drug for Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and his party.
“Scared by the outcome of the recent Assembly elections in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, the Chief Minister hurriedly launched the scheme to save him and his party from the wrath of the farmers,” Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) president Niranjan Patnaik told mediapersons here.
He hinted at rampant corruption in the KALIA scheme with the state government making a provision to sell the forms to small and marginal farmers.
Replying to a question on frequent meetings of BJD leaders with those of the Left parties, Niranjan said there always existed a close nexus between them.
Asked about the steps his party is going to take on this matter, he said the state Congress will act in accordance with the directive of the party supremo.
