Cuttack: The condition of one of the separated conjoined twins, Kalia is critical, said Superintendent of the SCB Medical College and Hospital, Lucy Das.
The twins from Kandhamal district, Jaga and Kalia, were joined at head since birth. Following the state government’s intervention and funding, they underwent a complicated surgery for 21 hours in All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi in October 2017. They stayed in the AIIMS for two years to enable the doctors to keep an eye on the progress of their health condition.
After the doctors declared them fit to be discharged, they came back with their parents to Odisha last year. They were being treated at SCB Medical College. However, the doctors in the hospital said the condition of Jaga was stable.
The twins’ parents belong to Milipada village in Kandhamal district.
