Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday described Tamil actor Kamal Haasan as a towering personality of Indian cinema.
“Haasan is a legend who has served the nation throughout his life through art, cinema and humanitarian works. He has made many new experiments in cinema. His silent movie ‘Pushpak’ has been hailed as an all-time great in the world of cinema. I am informed that he has turned his fan club into an organisation for humanitarian activities. This speaks volumes about his commitment to human values. I wish him success in all his endeavours,” the CM said while conferring a honorary doctorate to Haasan at a special event organized by the Centurion University of Technology & Management (CUTM) here.
The CM advised the students to emulate the quality of Haasan, who the world knows as a perfectionist. “You are all students of skill and perfectionism is core to your profession. This is one quality you should strive to imbibe,” he added.
Praising the efforts of CUTM, he said the institute has been recognized as a skill university by the state government. “I am happy that the skill initiative of this institute through Gram Tarang is making a transformative impact on the lives of thousands of rural youth, particularly from the interior tribal pockets of the state,” he said.
