Bhubaneswar: Temperature slumped to a single digit in the southern district of Kandhamal as the cold wave intensified in most parts of Odisha on Friday.
According to a release by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Kandhamal recorded the lowest temperature at 7 degree Celsius while it was 8.5 degree Celsius at Daringbadi.
While the temperature remained within 10 degree Celsius in the four districts of Angul (10), Sundargarh (10), Sambalpur (10.4) and Sonepur (10.4), 11 places in the state, including Cuttack (12.4) and Bhubaneswar (13), recorded 13 degrees and less.
The temperature in the north-western districts of Odisha will come down by 2-3 degrees in the next 48 hours by December 23 and 3-4 degrees in the central districts in the subsequent 24 hours by December 24. Besides, the coastal districts will also experience more cold with a fall in the temperature by 1-2 degrees in the next 24 hours from December 22.
